The Keepers' Weekend, October 13-15th gave many opportunities to rekindle many friendships. The weather was perfect
and the photos below will show that we all were kept very busy!
Friday's 3 hour bus ride to the U.S. Coast Guard National Aids to Navigation Museum (NATON) allowed for many to
get a little extra 'shut-eye'!

Saturday's activities at Currituck Heritage Park brought many to view the Whalehead Club from the INSIDE. Many have seen
the former hunting club from atop the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, but never visited the site. The newly opened Outer Banks
Center for Wildlife Education was also a high point!

It was magnificent to see the light flash. The first order Fresnel Lens is visible when the light is on. |

| Many of us gathered on the front porch of the Keepers' Quarters at Bodie Island Lighthouse. With us were John Gaskill and Marilyn Austin Meads whose fathers were the two last keepers of the light. |

Saturday evening's Awards Dinner was followed by a prentation from Chicamacomico Life Saving Station 'keepers'
James Charlet and Linda Malloy, dressed in full 19th century garb, and then a wonderful talk by Sandra Clunies,
certified genealogist about the "Lesser Known Luminaries" in the lighthouse world, and then by our lively auction and raffle winners.
