Dare County Tourist Bureau paid for the engraving of all the Hatteras Lighthouse Keepers' names (both towers) on the granite stones that mark the site where the 1870 tower stood. These stones are from the original foundation. This is called the 'Circle of Stones'. They also gave us a grant of several thousand dollars to help with expenses for the Hatteras Keepers' Decendants Homecoming (May, 2001).
