US CELLULAR MAKES DONATION TO OBLHS
US Cellular made a formal presentation of funds donated to Outer Banks Lighthouse Society on April 25, 2005 on the grounds of Bodie Island Lighthouse.
The funds collected in a year long project through US Cellular's CARE Program have been designated for the Bodie Island lens restoration.
It's hoped that many more companies will follow suit, as over $200,000 is needed to restore the First Fresnel Lens which is one of the few left in the country of that size that still remains an active aid to navigation.

to
Judy Castleberry,
OBLHS Director of Fundraising (center), and Bett Padgett,
OBLHS President.
The money was raised from returned cellular phones and
donated to OBLHS
for preservation efforts.
