Bett Padgett, President
Bett is President of OBLHS and also serves as Public Relations and Special events Chair. Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, she has resided in Raleigh for more than 30 years. She has taught guitar at NCSU since 1979, and has taught music, guitar, composition, keyboard and performance coaching at her private studio since 1979. Also a songwriter, she has released four CD’s. Her third CD was a history of the Hatteras Lighthouse, “If A Lighthouse Could Speak." Research on the songs introduced her to the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society and the desire to be a part of this family. She has written a song about Bodie Island lighthouse families, “Life at the Lighthouse” which was used in a documentary on the lighthouse. Bett hosts the Little Lake House Concert Series, one of the state’s best, nicknamed the “Carnegie Hall of house concerts.” To our enjoyment, Bett is a regular performer at OBLHS and other special events.
